We intend for children to play, discover and grow their abilities. Each child is unique and has his / her own pace of growth. No two children will reach the points of learnings and stages of development at the same time. The EYFS framework provides us the tools to track each child’s development. We are able to plan activities and play to help children achieve their development goals. The activities and environment at our setting promote and empower children to be confident and assertive young people.

We believe that early years children can not be ‘taught’ and will discover through their investigations of their environment. As long as these little investigators are surrounded by interesting things and as long as they feel secure, they will continue to investigate and learn. Their active brains have a lot to process and then at the end of the day they will sleep soundly.

A typical day would include a mix of group activities (like reading a book, singing time, cooking) and self initiated activities (role play, puzzles, water play). A mix of activities help children develop healthy habits, communication, physically, socially, numeracy, literacy and understanding of the world. Good food, happy, and safe environment makes children feel secure to express themselves and explore.

Gaggle’s ethos is to support and encourage children to be independent learners. This is done by giving them freedom in selecting activities for themselves and taking responsibility for day-to-day tasks. At the same time, we take responsibility for observing, assessing and planning for their learning and development, working in partnership with parents and carers.

We have four separate groups and rooms of children. Each group has staff that have relevant experience and expertise in taking care of that age group of children. This ensures quality and consistency of care. Children in their specific age groups and rooms get access to resources and activities that are optimal for their learning and development.

While there are separate rooms, given the small size and large open plan of the setting the children may mix with different groups as they participate in with other children on activities like circle time, reading, & singing. Such a accessibility across the nursery helps in continuity of care and little transition related changes.

Today our Bumblebee children had an enriching outdoor experience day.

Melanie, our Forest School Leader, inspires and spreads her love of the great outdoors to all the children and staff, through fun activities and resources that introduce the children to a wonderful outdoor world of adventure.

We seek to develop children’s understanding of the world around them by using their imagination, emotions and senses providing activities such as mini-beast hunts, leaf matching, and picture making with natural materials.

The children today have expanded our planting area encouraging the children to learn about nature and how things grow. Tending to vegetables and herbs supports children's understanding about healthy eating and where food comes from. #Outdoors #Nature #imagination #Development

Congratulations! We passed our Healthy Catering Assessment today and can proudly display that we are committed to healthy catering.

Food is essential to the development of our children and we have consistently placed a very high importance on serving healthy food.

Our food is made from fresh ingredients and meat supplied from local butchers. Our food is low on salt and sugar and there is no deep fried dishes. We have seasonal menus with a wide variety of dishes made from seasonal ingredients. We serve hot cooked meals twice daily and not cold teas. We have healthy snacks and low sugar puddings.

We use whole grain options for foods like breads, pita, wraps and cereals. We do not serve juices, crisp and unhealthy snacks. We encourage healthy eating among our children and they help harvest fresh ingredients from our vegetable garden.

And we have done this over 3 yeasr consistently 🙂

The children had a wonderful day today celebrating Holi - the festival of colour. Holi is an Indian festival that marks the arrival of Spring. We have children at our nursery from lots of different cultures and we really enjoy learning about their special days and the traditions that are associated with them.

The celebration helps children's development of Understanding of the world - People and communities, alongside playing together and lots of communication and language.

Our parents got involved and thank you to Fiona one of our lovely moms, who read stories to our children in continuation of our world book day and joined in the celebration of Holi.
